In conjunction with a screening event of Alexia Anastasio's documentary
"Adventures in Plymptoons", UnionDocs is calling artists, filmmakers and animators
to submit works for an animation contest. The best works will be chosen by Bill and
screened on May 27 at UnionDocs works should be limited to two minutes and draw
their inspiration from Plympton's work, style or themes. Any dialogue should be in
English (or have English subtitles). Deadline for submission is May 5, and entrants
should send links and passwords to watch films online to firstname.lastname@example.org
The winning filmmaker will also receive a DVD and drawing signed by Bill.

UPCOMING EVENTS - APRIL/MAY/JUNE
Bill will be appearing at the Florida Film Festival, the weekend of April 20-22,
to introduce screenings of his short films "Summer Bummer" and "The Flying House".
Screenings will be at the Enzian Theater on Wednesday, April 18 at 10 am and Saturday, April 21 at 9:30 pm. For more information, please visit the fest's site here.
And on May 19 in Portland, there will be a special screening of "Adventures in Plymptoons!" at McMennamin's Bagdad Theater & Pub, 3702 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd, with Bill Plympton appearing, along with director Alexia Anastasio. Don't miss this Portland area appearance of the documentary about Bill and his work! And then on May 27, Bill will appear at the screening of "Adventures in
Plymptoons!" at Union Docs in Brooklyn, NY, along with director Alexia Anastasio. The screening will be at 7:30 pm, with a $9 suggested donation.

Then in June, it's the big Annecy Animation Festival in France, June 4-9. The full schedule has not been announced, but Bill will be in attendance, as will everyone who's anyone in animation!

In July, it's the big San Diego Comic-Con, July 12-15, with a Preview Night on July 11. Bill will be on-site with a booth and panels, new DVDs and lots of other fun things! More details coming in our next newsletter. But get your badges any way you can, and make your travel plans!
