AWARDS SEASON

January also means the start of Awards Season, and Bill's short film "The Cow Who Wanted to Be a Hamburger" is in contention for a few...

The animated short is currently on the "Short List" of 10 films being considered for an Academy Award, for Best Animated Short. The nominations will be announced on January 25, so we've all got our fingers crossed!

"Cow" also received a nomination for the Annie Awards, in the category of Best Animated Short Subject. The Annies are given out by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood branch, and will be presented on February 5 at UCLA's Royce Hall in Los Angeles. IDIOTS AND ANGELS NEWS - OPENING IN OKLAHOMA CITY!

"Idiots and Angels" will screen at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on January 28-29, 8 pm. The OKC MOA is located at: 415 Couch Drive in Oklahoma City. More information here.

OTHER NEWS
Bill Plympton's book with Rizzoli New York, now has a title: "Independently Animated, Bill Plympton" and will be released on March 22.  The book will feature art from throughout his career, some created especially for the book, as well as Bill’s personal story, complete with anecdotes and adventures about his life, career, and filmmaking.

Containing a foreword written by Terry Gilliam, and co-authored by David Levy, the book is now available for Pre-Order on Amazon.com by clicking here.

Also, Bill has announced that he is working on a new music video for recording artist "Weird Al" Yankovic, as a follow-up to his 2006 video "Don't Download This Song". The song title and subject matter are secret for now, but we hope to announce more in a future newsletter.
